On July 25, 2007 The blog master of Malaysia Today was called in to record a statement for allegedly posting a slanderous article against the Yang DiPertuan Agong and Islam on the website. The Police acted on a report lodged by a component party of the governing alliance. Prior to that, Parti Keadilan Rakyat information bureau staff Nathaniel Tan was remanded to facilitate investigations under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). He was detained without being charged for five days. These incidents point toward an apparent crackdown on bloggers that had thus far a free reign on freedom of expression. A rare privilege in Malaysia where there is no independent mass media. The incidents in July 2007 only highlight the need for more independent avenues where residents of Malaysia may speak freely without fear or favor. The more the merrier. This is a feature rich site. Here are some tips that might help enrich your experience here;
1. Upon first log in to this site, go to Profile that is located on the menu at top right. Customise your personal settings. The important feature you might like to enable is "Notify me when a reply is posted" and "Notify me when there is a Private Message". That way you will not missed out if somebody posted a response to your comments or when you have a Private Message.
